✦ IAPP · AI Governance Professional
Three weeks of live, hands-on prep for the IAPP AI Governance Professional. Foundations, the legal and framework landscape, and governing AI end to end. No legal background required.
✦ Your instructor
Mike Wheeler is an AI and Salesforce trainer and O’Reilly author. He has taught well over 500,000 global learners on major platforms such as edX, LinkedIn Learning, Pearson, and Udemy, and he built the first generative AI course on edX. He teaches for non-coders, working backward from your career goals.
Professionals moving into AI governance, risk, compliance, or policy who are targeting IAPP’s AIGP. No legal or coding background required.
AI governance is becoming its own discipline, and the AIGP is the credential the field is standardising on. It rewards structured thinking about risk and process rather than legal training. We build the vocabulary and the frameworks from the ground up.
✦ The curriculum & schedule
Six live sessions over three weeks: three teaching sessions plus three optional office hours. All times Central. Can’t make one live? Every session is recorded.

Job-market intel and open Q&A, shared across every Velza Academy cohort.
Data governance, model risk, and impact assessments during the build phase.

✦ What you’ll walk away with
AI governance is one of the fastest-emerging needs in the enterprise, and there are not enough people who can do it.
Studies keep pointing to a shortage of practitioners who can govern AI in practice. A new generation of certifications is arriving to meet that demand, and the IAPP AIGP is one leading the pack.
✦ Exam coverage
All four domains of the IAPP AIGP Body of Knowledge, weighted to match the exam.
| Governing AI Development | 27% |
| Governing AI Deployment & Use | 27% |
| Laws, Standards & Frameworks Applicable to AI | 25% |
| Foundations of AI Governance | 21% |
✦ What’s included
Three teaching sessions plus three optional office hours, live over three weeks. Wednesdays at 2-3 PM Central.
Every session is recorded, and you keep access to the replays for a full year, so you can rewatch any time before your exam.
A real governance artifact each week, building toward a package you can show an employer.
✦ Questions, answered
Yes, and most people in this cohort will not have one. The AIGP is about structured thinking on risk and process. We build the vocabulary and the frameworks from the ground up.
The IAPP AI Governance Professional (AIGP) certifies that you can establish and run AI governance in an organisation. It covers foundations of AI governance, the applicable laws, standards and frameworks, and governing AI through both development and deployment.
Check the current requirements with IAPP directly before you register, since membership and pricing terms change. We keep this cohort focused on the Body of Knowledge itself.
No. This cohort is exam prep. You register and pay for the exam separately through IAPP.
Every session is recorded and shared, and you keep access to the replays for a full year, so you can watch or rewatch any of them on your own schedule. The optional Friday office hours are recorded too.
Self-study stalls. A live cohort gives you a fixed three-week pace, the chance to ask questions in real time, weekly hands-on work, and optional office hours. You actually finish.
You can request a full refund within 24 hours of the start of the first live session.
